The Festive Cheer Initiative
In 2020, after a very challenging Covid year, the One Billion successfully ran its festive cheer initiative – a project identifying people in need and raising funds to bring a little festive cheer to the lives of children, refugees, and families in New Zealand, Australia and South Africa.
Homes of Hope, New Zealand
12 children in foster care as well as their 7 caregivers were treated to gifts which were opened on Christmas day!
True Colours, New Zealand
True Colours Children’s Health Trust supports Waikato families who have a child with a serious health condition or who are grieving the death of their baby or child. 100 gifts were purchased for children affiliated with this amazing organisation.
The Refugee Orientation Centre, New Zealand
ROC was started by refugees with the aim of supporting new refugees to acclimatise to life in New Zealand. The ROC aftercare facility was gifted with new toys for its approximately 30 children and 30 families treated to food hampers to enjoy over the festive period.
Mum’s supporting Families in Need, Australia
Just as its name says, MSFIN was started by a mum to help families in need. Heeding their call for support over Christmas, gifts were purchased for 300 children whose families were having a tough time.
The Lightworker’s school stationery project, South Africa
The Lightworkers is a network of women who support women and children in need. 60 stationery packs were purchased to support children of all ages to ensure they were school ready.
