We are dreamers who are doers, working to build a better world for all. The One Billion: Creating scalable impact to better the lives of a billion people.
All people are born equal but our lives are
not equally experienced
The One Billion, founded in 2020 at a time of world upheaval and chaos, has a vision of empowering the most vulnerable among us to realise their dreams.
What Covid 19 has taught us is that we are not all equal in this life experience. Damian Barr wrote:
“We are not all in the same boat. We are all in the same storm. Some of us are on super-yachts. Some have just one oar.”
Isn’t this the truth about life too? As humans, we have all been born into this life, and yet we all experience it differently.
With this realisation our team has come to see that even the most fulfilled life is empty if we cannot help others to improve their own lives so they may also appreciate the possibilities around them.
To relieve poverty and advance education by empowering people through skills development
and access to technology. To benefit communities by:
Promoting health and wellness and supporting initiatives that help families and people to make better lifestyle choices
Collaborating and identifying community needs and assisting them to realise these goals through infrastructural, environmental and social development
Partnering with the public and private sectors for raising awareness of pressing issues to bring about awareness and change
"When I started the One Billion, everyone asked me why I didn't aim for one million. The truth is that I've always believed that ordinary people can set extraordinary goals and can create an impact beyond our expectations when we focus on action and give ourselves the opportunity to try. If there's one thing I know for sure, it's that nothing worthwhile ever comes easy and no great success ever comes without risk. Best to buckle up, turn on the engine and be ready for the ride."
